Appeal for witnesses to wounding case in Cheung Sha Wan

Police are appealing for witnesses to a wounding case in which a woman and a bus driver were attacked by a culprit onboard a bus in Cheung Sha Wan yesterday (January 10).

At about 1 pm, a 35-year-old woman boarded a route No 102 bus running from Mei Foo Sun Chuen to Shau Kei Wan at a bus stop outside 888 Cheung Sha Wan Road. She followed a man to go upstairs and took a seat on the upper deck.

When the bus reached near Tai Nan Street, the man suddenly attacked the woman on her right ear from behind with a stun gun. The victim cried for help and the culprit fled downstairs and ordered the 55-year-old male driver to stop the bus. The culprit attacked the driver with the stun gun after his request was ignored. The driver subsequently stopped the bus outside a Chinese restaurant at 786 Cheung Sha Wan Road and the culprit fled towards Tai Nan West Street.

The female victim then made a report to Police after she reached her destination in Wan Chai.

Police initial enquiries revealed that the culprit, aged about 30, stands about 1.65 metre and is of thin build with long straight hair covering his neck.

Investigations by District Crime Squad of Sham Shui Po are proceeding.

Police are anxious to contact witnesses, especially the bus passengers who saw the incident, of the case. Anyone who has information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 2746 3453 or the Cheung Sha Wan Police Station on 2746 3300.
