Man charged with possessing false instrument
Police today (January 10) charged a 27-year-old man with one count of possessing false instrument.
Officers of Commercial Crime Bureau arrested the man in Sham Shui Po yesterday (January 9) with the seizure of 36 credit cards with different customer names, photocopies of over 100 Hong Kong Identity cards and other suspected false documents including salary statements in his residence.
It was believed that a payment card fraud syndicate, which made use of false documents and other persons' details to apply for credit cards, has been smashed. The credit cards were used by the syndicate, involving a total amount of about HK$700,000.
The man will appear in Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (January 11) morning.
