Wounding case in Kwai Chung reclassified as murder
Police today (December 7) reclassified a wounding case which occurred in Kwai Chung on November 29 as murder.
At about 6.55 am that day, a 33-year-old female cleansing worker made a report to Police that she found an elderly man lying on the ground near an escalator on the fourth floor of a shopping arcade at 223 Hing Fong Road.
Police officers arrived at the scene and located a 72-year-old man who told the officers that a man had allegedly punched his head from behind after he failed to give way to the man on the escalator earlier. The victim then lost balance and fell onto the ground and the man fled away after the incident.
Sustaining injuries, the victim was rushed to the Princess Margaret Hospital where he was certified dead at 5.07 am on December 4. An autopsy conducted on the deceased yesterday (December 6) revealed that he died of head injuries.
Investigations by District Crime Squad of Kwai Tsing are proceeding.
