Robbery case in Hung Hom reclassified as murder
Police today (November 17) reclassified a robbery case which occurred in Hung Hom yesterday (November 16) as robbery and murder.
Shortly after 1.30 pm yesterday, Police received a report that a man was attacked and robbed outside KCR Hung Hom Station.
Police officers sped to the scene and located a 52-year-old man who sustained injuries to his rear head. He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he was certified dead at 8.25 pm today.
Police enquiries revealed that the man was attacked and robbed of three cartons of gold ornaments by four men armed with hard objects when he was pushing a trolley at the scene. The culprits then board a light goods vehicle (LGV) and escaped. Police later located an LGV and a private car believed to have been used by the culprits on Fat Kwong Street and Gillies Avenue North respectively.
Following extensive investigation, Police today arrested six male illegal immigrants, aged between 21 and 37, suspected to be in connection with the case at a flat on 473-475 Shun Ning Road in Cheung Sha Wan this afternoon.
While one of the arrested men who sustained injuries after he jumped from the unit when resisting arrest was admitted to the Caritas Medical Centre for treatment, the remaining men will be detained overnight for further enquiries.
A post-mortem on the deceased will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death.
Investigations by Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon West are proceeding.
