Police arrested seven teenagers for assault
Police arrested seven male teenagers, aged between 13 and 17, yesterday (October 23) in connection with the attack of two other teenagers at a shopping centre in Kwai Chung on October 22.
It was revealed that the two victims, a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were assaulted by a group of teenagers at about 2 pm on October 22 at a podium park on the second floor of Kwai Shing East Estate Shopping Centre.
Officers of District Anti-Triad Squad, Kwai Tsing took over the case for further investigation and successfully identified two of the suspects.
The officers took arrest action yesterday and arrested seven boys at their homes in Kwai Chung. All the arrested teenagers were released on Police bail and required to report back to Police in early November for further enquiries.
In response to the recent media reports on this incident, a Police spokesman reiterated that the three young girls located at scene on October 22 were only the witnesses of the case and investigation also revealed that the girls had not claimed themselves as members of a triad society.
He said that apart from criminal investigation, Police will also liaise with the concerned Government Departments through the School Liaison Officers to provide assistance and consulting services to the teenagers involved in the incident.
