Fatal traffic accident in Western

Police are investigating a traffic accident in which an 83-year-old woman died in Western today (October 5).

At about 12.10 pm, a medium goods vehicle driven by a 51-year-old man reportedly knocked down the 83-year-old woman while it was reversing at Ki Ling Lane.

After the accident, the woman was trapped under the vehicle and rescued by firemen at the scene. She was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital where she was certified dead at 12.56 pm.

The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are underway.
