Firearms seized in Mong Kok
Police arrested four persons and seized a pistol loaded with seven rounds of ammunition in an operation conducted in Kowloon West Region yesterday (September 12).
Acting on firearm information, Police have identified three suspects onboard a taxi in Mong Kok area in the early hours yesterday.
Being pursued by the Police, the taxi fled recklessly along Yim Po Fong Street toward Sham Shui Po area. In the course of escape, the fleeing taxi first rammed into another taxi at Wylie Street junction with Waterloo Road causing damage to the vehicle and injury to the taxi driver on his head.
The fleeing taxi continued to escape and rammed into a medium goods vehicle at the junction of Sai Yee Street and Luen Wan Street.
It then eventually rammed into an iron railing at Tai Po Road and the suspects fled in unknown direction leaving the taxi behind.
After subsequent investigation into the case, Police arrested three men and one woman, aged between 22 and 44 in Kowloon and New Territories respectively.
Police also seized a genuine 7.62 mm self-loading pistol, seven rounds of live ammunition, and a small quantity of Ketamine during the operation.
Among the four arrested persons, Police have charged a 26-year-old man with possession of firearms without licence and he will appear in Kowloon City Magistracies' Court tomorrow (September 14).
The remaining two men and one woman have been released on bail pending for further investigation.
Investigation by Organized Crime and Triad Bureau is proceeding.
