Appeal for information on serious traffic accident in Kwai Chung
Police today (July 17) appealed to members of the public to provide information on a serious traffic accident in Kwai Chung. Seven men and ten women were injured during the accident.
At about 10.30 am, a container truck driven by a 48-year-old man broke down on the second lane on New Territories bound of Kwai Chung Road near Container Terminal No. 4. A bus driven by a 25-year-old man and a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 47-year-old man were travelling along the third lane of the same direction. The bus reportedly lost controlled and rammed onto the container truck while cutting the lane. The MGV behind the bus also rammed onto the bus.
Sixteen bus passengers, including six men and ten women aged between nine and 55, and the 47-year-old male MGV driver were injured. They were sent to Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH), Yan Chai Hospital and Caritas Medical Center respectively for medical treatment.
One man was admitted in critical condition while a boy, a man and a woman were admitted in serious condition in PMH.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South are proceeding.
