Man jailed for trafficking in a dangerous drug
A 39-year-old man was sentenced at the Court of First Instance today (June 29) to 12 years' imprisonment for trafficking in a dangerous drug.
The court heard that officers of Police Narcotics Bureau intercepted the man outside a residential unit on Po Ling Road in Tai Po on July 25, 2005.
The man was found in possession of about 10 grams of Ketamine.
A subsequent search in the residential unit led to the seizure of about 4,000 grams of Ketamine and some packaging paraphernalia.
The haul could fetch about $2.2 million if sold in the retail market.
The man was arrested and later charged with two counts of trafficking in a dangerous drug. He was convicted of the charges and the sentence was meted out at the Court of First Instance today.
