Special Traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island
A Police spokesman announced today (June 26) that Police will implement special traffic arrangements in various districts on Hong Kong Island to facilitate the visit of the Chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Mr Jia Qinglin between June 27 to 29.
During Chairman Jia's visit, temporary traffic diversion measures might need to be implemented in the vicinity of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Wan Chai and in part of the areas in Admiralty and Central.
"Traffic in these areas is expected to be more heavy during these few days and we appeal to the public to plan their journey well in advance, use public transport as far as possible and try to avoid driving to the relevant districts if not necessary," the spokesman said.
"We will endeavour to minimise the inconvenience caused to the public and will release the most up-to-date traffic information and advice to the public through the media regularly," he added.
Motorists are also advised to drive with care and patience, and follow the directions of the Traffic Police and to take heed of traffic signs at the scene.
