Appeal for information on robbery in Sha Tin

Police appeal to members of the public for information on a robbery occurred in Sha Tin this (April 20) afternoon in which about US$1.24 million of electronic parts were robbed.

At about 11.30 am, a 43-year-old man loaded about 300 boxes of electronic parts onto a medium goods vehicle (MGV) from an industrial building on Wang Tai Road, Ngau Tau Kok.

When reaching Sheung Yuet Road junction with Wai Yip Street, a man rushed out the road and stopped the MGV.

The culprit, together with another accomplice, threatened the driver with a pistol-like-object. They then blindfolded the driver and tied up his hands and legs with adhesive tapes. The driver later collapsed after being forced to take in some liquid.

When the driver woke up, he found himself tied up inside the MGV on San Chuk Street in Sha Tin.

He shouted for help and alerted a security guard of a nearby bus depot. The security guard made a report to the Police at about 3.15 pm. The victim was then taken to Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment.

Enquiries revealed that the both the culprits wore caps. One of them is of fat build and with short hair when committing the crime. The other culprit is of thin build and with long hair.

The case has been taken over by the Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon East for investigations.
