Appeal for information on abandoned baby boy (with photo)

Police are anxious to locate the next-of-kin of a newborn baby boy who was found abandoned in Yau Ma Tei yesterday (April 14).

At about 3.45 pm, a 29-year-old Philippine man met a Philipine woman on Nathan Road junction with Waterloo Road in Yau Ma Tei. The woman gave him something wrapped by clothes and left immediately. The man found a newborn baby boy inside the clothes when he opened it. He immediately took the baby to Kwong Wah Hospital for treatment and reported to the Police.

The newborn baby boy, with an umbilical cord attached, is about 29 weeks on delivery and weighed 0.95 kilograms.

He was being wrapped with a beige long-sleeved sweater and a white long-sleeved jacket when found.

The Philippine woman who passed the baby boy to the man was aged about 30 and 1.61 metres tall; of medium build and with long hair. She was wearing a white T-shirt and a pair of dark blue trousers at the moment.

Police urged the woman, relatives of the baby boy or anyone who has information to offer to contact the officers in Yau Ma Tei Police Station at 2359 8200.
