Couple charged with murder

Police charged a couple with murder following the death of their 10-year-old son early this (February 18) morning.

Shortly after 8.20 pm on February 16, a 49-year-old man made a report to the Police that his son was found collapsed at their home on Queen's Road East.

Responding to the report, Police officers arrived at the scene to investigate and located the boy who was already in unconscious state.

The boy was rushed to Ruttonjee Hospital and later transferred to Queen Mary Hospital where he was certified dead at 3.28 am today.

Initial enquiries revealed that the boy's father and his 35-year-old mother had trapped the boy inside a luggage at their home before Police received the report.

The duo, arrested in connection with the case, were charged jointly with one count of murder. They will appear in the Eastern Magistrates' Courts today.

Investigations by District Crime Squad of Wan Chai are underway.
