Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day

A total of 189 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 97 summonses were issued to motorists and pedestrians who violated traffic regulations during an operation conducted by Police in Kowloon East Region yesterday (February 14).

The Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day was conducted between 7am and 11pm yesterday and 215 officers from Traffic Kowloon East, District Traffic Teams of Wong Tai Sin, Sau Mau Ping and Kwun Tong were deployed to enforce regulations at the traffic accident blacksites and the potential traffic accident locations in Kowloon East Region.

Another 156 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and other parking offences.

A total of 135 pedestrians and 10 drivers were verbally warned for committing jaywalking and other minor traffic offences.

Meanwhile, pamphlets and leaflets on road safety message were also distributed to the road users.

Statistics revealed that a total of 156 traffic accidents had occurred in Kowloon East Region in January 2006.
