Fatal traffic accident in Kowloon City

Police are investigating a traffic accident in which an 85-year-old woman was killed in Kowloon City this (January 26) morning.

Shortly before 11 am, a heavy goods vehicle stopped on the third lane of Ma Tau Chung Road towards Kwun Tong at the junction of Sung Wong Toi Road.

When it started to move forward, the driver, a 40-year-old man, felt that his vehicle had run over something on its rear left. The driver stopped the vehicle and found the injured woman lying on the ground.

Sustaining serious injuries to her chest, the 85-year-old woman was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where she was certified dead at 11.14am.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Kowloon West are proceeding.
