Woman arrested for infanticide in Chai Wan
Police have arrested an Indonesian woman for infanticide after a baby body was found in Chai Wan this (January 10) morning.
At about 8.30 am, Police received a report from a cleansing worker that a naked baby was found lying on the podium on the second floor of Sau Fung House in Fung Wah Estate.
The baby girl, attached with part of the umbilical cord, was certified dead at the scene by ambulancemen at 9.02 am.
Police enquiries at scene located a 24-year-old Indonesian woman who had given birth to the baby girl at a flat in Sau Fung House this morning. The woman was subsequently arrested for infanticide. Feeling unwell, the woman was sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where she was admitted for treatment.
Preliminary assessment during a post-mortem on the baby body this afternoon revealed that the cause of death was head injury.
The woman is now being detained for enquiries and investigations by the District Crime Squad of Eastern are proceeding.
