Officers urged to join Learning Recognition Scheme

The Training Development Bureau is encouraging officers to join CSTDI's Learning Recognition Scheme (LRS) 2001/02 to promote lifelong learning.

1. Officers joining the scheme will earn LRS cards through three means:

i) Through the established means of studying CSTDI's self-learning packages. A learner will get one LRS card after completing the package, as long as they get a quiz on the package at least 70 per cent correct and complete a short feedback evaluation;

ii) Through borrowing books or other learning resources from CSTDI's Learning Resource Centre - 3/F, North Point Government Offices. A learner will get one LRS coupon upon borrowing one item. Three coupons will entitle a learner to one LRS card;

iii) Through participation in experience-sharing sessions or lunchtime video-screening sessions at the CSTDI. A learner will get one LRS coupon for participating in one of these sessions. Three coupons will entitle a learner to one LRS card.

The card accumulation period for 2001/02 is from March 11, 2001 to March 31, 2002. The necessary quiz and feedback evaluation must be received by CSTDI by March 31, 2002 for that respective card to be eligible for counting towards the award.

2. The awards are for:

a) Learner of the Year (the one who gets the most LRS cards);

b) Learning Department of the Year (the department whose staff collectively get the most LRS cards);

c) Avid Learner - one who has earned 10 LRS cards or more.

Awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held sometime in April/May 2002. Details will be announced later by CSTDI.

3. All officers are encouraged to join the scheme by visiting the CSTDI homepage at www.info.gov.hk/cstdi or Cyber Learning Centre (CLC) at www.info.gov.hk/cstdi/clc (download the membership form and distribute it to as many interested parties as possible).

For general enquiries, please call Y.C. Chiang on 2231-3857 or e-mail him at eo2cstdi@cstdi.gcn.gov.hk.
