DCP MAN Dick Lee meets the cultural exchange participants

A host of disciplined services officers are set to partake in a cultural exchange visit to Beijing and Xinjiang from July 22 to 31.

Force members will join officers from the Fire Services, Immigration, Customs and Excise, and Correctional Services Departments, and the Scout Association for the cultural exchange organised by the Chinese History and Culture Educational Foundation for Youth. The trip for Junior Police Officers comes after a visit to the Public Security University by fellow JPOs in April.

Deputy Commissioner Management Dick Lee Ming-kwai encouraged participants to make the most of the programme to enhance their knowledge of the Mainland and widen their horizons. He said they should take the opportunity to learn with their Mainland counterparts and convey the positive image of the Force. Mr Lee said the trip would also boost ties among all the departments participating.

The Force delegation will be led by Assistant Commissioner Personnel Tang King-shing and members include Kwok Ho-yee, Personnel Wing Chief Inspector JPO and eight other officers nominated by their major formation commanders. The young participants have top potential and high respect for the Force Values. The delegation will stay in Beijing for five days, where they will be received by state leaders and conduct various visits. They will then go to the Xinjiang Autonomous Region to experience its culture and development.

All are well prepared for the busy and demanding journey, collecting information on the places they are going to visit and ready to carry the Force's top professional image.

During a flag presentation ceremony held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on July 11, Mr Tang spoke on behalf of the five disciplined services and scouts, thanking the organisers for their invitation, adding that all were looking forward to enhancing mutual understanding between the participants and the Mainland youths.
