Marine East Division kicked-off its summer safety campaign in Sai Kung on June 2. The Division's Marine Police Sea Safety Day encouraged boat users and beachgoers to reduce recreational accidents on the water.
Marine East Divisional Commander Superintendent Chan Lik-kin, Marine Officer Li Tai-fai of the Marine Department and Sai Kung District Fight Crime Committee chairwoman Yuen Chan Po-hing distributed leaflets featuring safety tips on swimming, windsurfing, jet skiing and diving.
Marine officers also conducted a mock speeding detection operation for the media, using laser equipment and the ForceÕs nimble Cougartek launches.
The drive was one of several to be undertaken by Marine Region this summer. Marine Police handled 120 accidents at sea last year, including collisions, and other incidents related to water sports.
