A whopping $838,400 was raised for the Community Chest through the top efforts of the Force in the Civil Service Charity Concert and its related events. Force members sang, danced, raced and competed in a host of events on the charity programme, and snapped up 458 concert tickets, and more than 34,700 raffle tickets, both the highest of any departments.

Commissioner Tsang Yam-pui led his seven Senior Directorate colleagues to belt out a Cantonese song of police pride on the Coliseum stage, while the 70 members of the various Force bands and our 41 choir singers were also in the spotlight.

CP Tsang said during the song that care for others was an important Force value.

"Although singing is not the Force's strength, we should nevertheless play a part in fund raising for the Community Chest," he said.

The Force won two swimming events, the women's B 50-metre breaststroke going to Woman Police Constable Ng Yuk-lin, and the women's B 4x50-metre freestyle relay going to the team of Woman Inspector Jacqueline Choi Nga-wing, Woman Sergeant Lau Chit-hei, WPC Leung Siu-ling and WPC Ng once again. Some 16 Force members or teams also won 1st and 2nd runner-up places.

In the singing competition, WPC Tang Kit-ching came second in the Chinese Opera Group while two Force choirs won the first and second runner-up places in the Pop Music Group.

Meanwhile, Marine West Division Cook Law Kit-chuen and his partner won three dance competitions.
