Central District Commander Mike Francis happily receives the charity cheque

An assault and criminal damage victim presented a $4,000 charity cheque and banners of thanks to Central officers on May 21, for their speedy arrest of three assailants who attacked him in his Queen's Road Central bakery.

The cheque was a donation for the Police Welfare Fund, happily accepted by Central District Commander Mike Francis on the Force's behalf.

The three men were recently convicted by a Magistrate who meted out suspended prison sentences for the December attack. They were also fined and ordered to pay the victim compensation.

The victim hailed the officers' professionalism in quickly arresting the culprits before they had a chance to flee.
