 East treat: Eastern district lads show their talents at the ceremony |
Eastern district kids recently concluded the Optimistic View of Life Campaign Phase II. Organised by Eastern District, the Chinese YMCA and other organisations, the campaign concluded July 8 with a prize presentation at the North Point Police Station Officers' Mess.
The campaign has been well received since its introduction in the District in October 1998. The second phase was launched in September with a series of outdoor activities, training courses, seminars and community work to help the youths develop a civic mind. Many Eastern officers also joined in as volunteers, sharing their experiences with the kids in their spare time.
A Shue Yan College Department of Social Work report on the campaign showed positive development in the participants' behaviour, social skills and attitude towards drugs and triads.
Ceremony guests included Eastern District Commander Paul Hung Hak-wai, Eastern District Fight Crime Committee members and Assistant District Officer (Eastern) Aubrey Fung.
