Chief Superintendent (CSP) of Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) Lam Cheuk-ho led a delegation to Manila, the Philippines between September 17 to 19 to attend the first INTERPOL Asia and South Pacific (ASP) Working Group Meeting on Cybercrime for Heads of Units organised by INTERPOL ASP Joint Operations on Cybercrime (ASPJOC). He was elected Vice-Chairperson of the Working Group to lead and work with Singapore and Fiji Police Forces in deepening cooperation amongst law enforcement agencies (LEAs) of ASP region to formulate long-term strategies and enhance joint operational capabilities in combatting technology crimes.
Speaking as Vice-chairperson of the Working Group, Lam Cheuk-ho mentioned that the Working Group aimed to provide a new platform for expanding the network and building mutual trust amongst law enforcement officers from different jurisdictions. He also reiterated the importance of continuous cooperation among international LEAs and various stakeholders. Moreover, he delivered a speech on “Next Generation Cybercrime Intervention Strategies”, sharing the Force’s proactive strategies in combatting and preventing technology crimes, as well as introducing the application and effectiveness of Scameter+ to the participants.
The participating LEAs came from 24 countries and regions. There were also representatives from ASEAN and the cyber security professional sector. The CSTCB delegation met with representatives of a number of countries to discuss bilateral and multilateral efforts in combatting transnational technology crimes.
