The Senior Police Call (SPC) Share the Love 2024 started on October 5. Blessing bags were distributed to the needy in society to express love and care. At the same time, the SPC spirit of helping oneself and others was demonstrated.
Officiating at the kick-off ceremony, Commissioner Siu Chak-yee remarked that the activities being held this year were especially meaningful as this year marked the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 10th anniversary of SPC. The Commissioner emphasised that nurturing the elderly to become the Force’s fight crime partners had always been the mission of SPC. He thanked SPC members for joining hands with the Force to fight crime over the years and all sectors of society for supporting SPC.
During the ceremony, members of the Yuen Long District SPC and the World Nunchaku Association presented a nunchaku performance along with the song The Chinese. By staging a drama, SPC Ambassador Mr Ng Tai-keung enhanced senior citizens’ anti-deception awareness.
After the ceremony, the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Chow Yat-ming visited two elderly centres respectively to call on the elderly and distribute the blessing bags with food and daily necessities. The two “SPC Fight Crime Vigour” publicity trucks were also launched officially. They toured various districts across Hong Kong between October 5 and 11 to disseminate crime prevention messages. Meanwhile, the Police Community Relations Offices and SPC members from different Districts distributed blessing bags to the needy to pass on the Force’s message of “Serving Hong Kong”.
