The Security Bureau (SB) led its disciplined and auxiliary services, together with the youth uniformed groups, to hold the Grand Parade by Disciplined Services and Youth Groups cum Fun Day for Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China at the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy in Tseung Kwan O on October 1 to share the joy of National Day with the public.
Amid performance of the Police Band, members of the disciplined services and youth uniformed groups marched onto the parade ground adopting the Chinese-style foot drill, followed by a flag-raising ceremony conducted by the Fire Services Department (FSD) flag party. The officiating guest, Chief Secretary for Administration (CS) Mr Chan Kwok-ki, inspected the disciplined services ceremonial guards and the youth and uniformed groups. Mr Chan said in his speech that it was heartening to see the performances of the disciplined and auxiliary services and the youth groups showcasing their solidarity and determination to uphold the dignity of the country. He also encouraged young people to contribute to the country.
Subsequent performances included a music show by the Police Band, a joint foot drill demonstration by disciplined services, lion and dragon dance and boxing performances by members of youth groups, and an appliance parade by various disciplined and auxiliary services. To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Motherland, the Police Band arranged for 75 members to participate in the parade, while members of the foot drill, music and youth groups formed patterns representing the number “75” and the national flag.
Moreover, exhibition and game booths were hosted by SB and the eight disciplined and auxiliary services to deepen public understanding of their daily operations. The disciplined services participating in the grand parade included the Force, Immigration Department, Customs and Excise Department, Correctional Services Department, FSD and Government Flying Service, as well as the youth groups of various disciplined services, Auxiliary Medical Service Cadet Corps, Civil Aid Service Cadet Corps and Hong Kong Army Cadets Association.
