NTN
Between May and July, the Emergency Unit of New Territories North (EU NTN) collaborated with the Fire Services Department, Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, MTR Corporation Limited and other formations of the Force to conduct a series of exercises at Tai Po Market MTR Station, Long Ping MTR Station, a critical infrastructure facility and a large shopping mall in NTN respectively, simulating emergency incidents such as train derailment, fire, arson, discovery of suspicious objects and violent people attacking passers-by randomly, to enhance the officers’ response capability in handling major emergencies.

In light of a series of upcoming events related to Olympic Games, the Emergency Unit of Kowloon West (EU KW) held an exercise inside a large shopping mall in the region on May 29. The exercise simulated an indiscriminate attack by a person suspected to be mentally disordered during live-broadcasting of the Olympic Games, with a view to testing the response of the property management and security personnel of the shopping mall in handling sudden violent incidents, and strengthening their communication and collaboration with police officers.
PTU HQ
The Police Tactical Unit (PTU) Headquarters (HQ) conducted a major public event exercise in Yuen Long on July 10. The exercise simulated an incident of suspected gas leakage in a school whilst PTU officers were conducting crowd management operation nearby. Over 300 officers participated in the exercise, along with around 100 participants, including students and teachers from Chiu Lut Sau Memorial Secondary School, and members of the Yuen Long District (YLDIST) Junior Police Call and Senior Police Call (SPC).
The officers also held a seminar on the same day for YLDIST SPC members, introducing to them the response tactics “Run, Hide, Report”, to boost emergency readiness within the community.
