Western District (WDIST) held the “National Security Makes Sense” National Security Quiz Competition Finals and Award Ceremony on July 6. Commissioner Siu Chak-yee, Deputy Commissioner (National Security) Kan Kai-yan and Director of National Security Kong Hok-lai attended as distinguished guests. In his speech, the Commissioner emphasised that the work on youths had to be started from a young age with ongoing and concerted efforts from stakeholders. He expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their work with the Force in providing a “learning-through-competition” platform for the teenagers through this competition. After a fierce contest, S.K.H. St. Peter’s Primary School and WDIST Junior Police Call were crowned in the primary and secondary school categories respectively. Additionally, various stakeholders shared with the audience their views on national security and what they had gained since joining the programme.

“National Security Makes Sense” was launched in December 2023. By joining hands with the local educators, a seven-month experiential learning journey was offered to students from 38 primary and secondary schools in Western and Southern Districts. The programme organised at least 17 events on national security, involving up to 2 700 participants.
