The Information Systems Wing (ISW) held the Force InnoTech Challenge 2023 Award Presentation Ceremony on February 23. The challenge, which aimed to promote the message of “enhancing efficiency through technology and optimising processes through creativity”, comprised three competitions, namely the Regional Digital Solution Application Award, Best P-TV Award and Innovative Use of Digital Solution Award, attracting participation of over 300 officers for the 48 awards. Commissioner Siu Chak-yee officiated at the ceremony. In his opening speech, Deputy Commissioner (Management) Chan Joon-sun encouraged officers to take the first step in innovation bravely, which could possibly lead to far-reaching changes. The Force would continue pursuing digital policing through infrastructure development, talent training and solid policy support.
Regional Digital Solution Application Award
• encouraging officers to make wider and better use of various digital solutions provided by ISW, including P-Chat, e284A, eLoss Memo, Self-Service Kiosks and e154. A total of 27 awards were presented based on individual, Districts or Regions/Major Formations usage rates.
Best P-TV Award
• encouraging officers to publish high-quality videos through the P-TV platform for conveying updated information of the Force. The judging panel selected gold, silver, and bronze awards in four competition categories, namely Innovational Breakthrough, Technological Stimulation, Knowledge Inheritance and Internal Communication, based on the content, creativity, production skill and message of the videos. There was also the Most Liked Award granted to the video receiving the highest number of likes from Force members.
Innovative Use of Digital Solution Award
• inspiring officers to establish innovative systems or make use of existing digital solutions for enhancing work efficiency. A total of 107 entries were received. Based on the innovation and application of science and technology, business process re-engineering, service quality enhancement and market potential of the entries, the judging panel decided the winners of the gold, silver, bronze, three merits and two special mention awards respectively.
Debut of Police Patrol Robot
• the Force’s first patrol robot developed by the Innovation and Solutions Lab (ISLAB) of ISW made its debut at the last session of the event, with the Commissioner presiding over the “Proof-of-Concept” initiation ceremony. The patrol robot is scheduled to undergo field testing and trial operations at the Passenger Clearance Building of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port in April.
