In the fourth quarter of 2023, the Marine (MAR) conducted a detailed review focusing on existing navigation and seamanship training, and devised a new training strategy under which the role and duties of the regional training framework, including the Marine Police Training School, sea-going divisions and Sea Standards Division were redefined. The Divisional Sea Training Officers are responsible for arranging in-house training and supervising the training progress and related matters of junior officers in their respective Divisions.
Acting Regional Commander of MAR Ip Che-man appointed the new Divisional Sea Training Officers and presented appointment letters to them on February 16, 2024. He welcomed the appointed officers and expected that they would collaborate with other training units more closely and ensure that the trained officers would play a key role in navigation safety and effective enforcement.
