To enhance the professionalism of auxiliary (AUX) officers, the Auxiliary Support Bureau (AUX SUP) has implemented a series of new tactics training initiatives, including adding tactics refresher training during the Annual Continuation Training. Moreover, Project RIDER was rolled out in December 2023 to provide extra tactics training for AUX officers during their training days.

AUX SUP hopes that the leadership, situational awareness and mental resilience of the officers can be tested and their instantaneous response capabilities, awareness of personal safety and understanding of tactical concepts can be enhanced through scenario-based exercises in the new tactical training. The AUX officers will take turns to play the roles of trainees and spectators in handling challenging cases such as domestic violence cases, handling emotionally unstable or violent persons, and suspicious vehicles. All training contents are tailored to meet the characteristics and operational needs of the respective Districts.

Around 700 AUX officers have undergone such training and all of them give positive feedback. AUX SUP will continue delivering professional training to support AUX officers in the frontline.
