The Senior Police Call (SPC) Anti-Deception and Health Campaign 2023, co-organised by SPC and the Southern Medical University Hong Kong Alumni Association (the Association), was held on November 19, 2023 to enhance the anti-deception and health awareness of the elderly as well as providing free Chinese medicine consultation services. Nearly 500 guests and SPC members from 22 Districts attended. Two SPC members from the Border District served as masters of ceremony. Chairperson of the SPC Central Advisory Board (SPC CAB) cum Regional Commander of Hong Kong Island (RC HKI) Kwok Ka-chuen, Vice-chairperson of SPC CAB cum Chief Superintendent of Public Relations Wing Tsang Shuk-yin, SPC CAB member cum President of the Association Dr Woo Wing-cheung, members of SPC CAB Mr Ngan Chi-wing, Dr Albert Wong, Prof Hui Sai-chuen, Prof Vivian Lou, Leader of Birney’s Corps Volunteers Mr Chow Kwok-kee and representative of VolunTIER Shum Chung-ngar officiated at the opening ceremony.


In his opening speech, Chairperson of SPC CAB cum RC HKI expressed gratitude to SPC CAB members, the Chinese medicine practitioners and massage therapists from the Association and the Southern Chinese and Western Integrative Medicine Society (the Society), members of the Birney’s Corps Volunteers and the VolunTier, officers from different Districts and SPC members for their continuous support. As November 19 was Senior Citizens Day, non-members were specially invited to participate in the campaign this year to convey SPC’s love and care for the elderly community.


This year’s activities included free consultation services on Chinese medicine and orthopaedic injuries provided by more than 40 Chinese medicine practitioners and massage therapists from the Association and the Society, a “resistance band exercise” led by Prof Hui Sai-chuen, a seminar on dementia conducted by Prof Vivian Lou, a talk by the Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention, as well as anti-deception games. The fitness station operated by research students of University of Hong Kong used technology to increase the members’ knowledge in their muscular and body balance abilities.
