“Policing with the Community” is one of the Strategic Directions of the Force. Deputy Regional Commander of New Territories North (NTN) Peter Whitton led officers to have a meeting with the community and religion leaders of the non-ethnic Chinese (NEC), as well as the representative of the District Office, on December 7, 2023 in a bid to keep close communication with them and strengthen their understanding of local policing.

The officers introduced the crime trends, crime prevention initiatives and liaison with NEC in NTN, such as Project Himalaya of Yuen Long District and Project Diversity of Tuen Mun District. They also discussed actively with the participants about the situation of public order, community policing and crime prevention measures to further improve the partnership with the NEC community. The participants agreed that the meeting enhanced the understanding of various parties and they affirmed the belief in joining hands to foster a secure community.
