Commissioner Siu Chak-yee led a ten-member delegation to attend the 91st INTERPOL General Assembly in Vienna, Austria between November 28 and December 1. Other delegates included Assistant Commissioner (Crime) Chung Wing-man, Regional Commander of Kowloon East Dr Law Yuet-wing, Chief Superintendent of Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau Cheng Lai-ki and Senior Superintendent of Liaison Bureau Chan Rock-sang.

Representatives of the countries and regions discussed and endorsed a set of policies aiming to strengthen international police collaboration and combat transnational crime. In his speech, the Commissioner mentioned that the International Symposium on Cyber Policing held recently provided a new and ideal platform bringing together academia, experts and senior police leaders from 39 jurisdictions to establish network and build trust. He also summarised the Force’s contribution in combatting transnational technology crimes and economic crimes, and reiterated the importance of international co-operation among law enforcement agencies and relevant stakeholders.

In addition, the Commissioner had bilateral meetings with representatives from various countries to discuss issues related to combatting transnational crime, especially in the fields of technology crime, money laundering and financial investigation, for closer international co-operation, stronger personnel training across ranks and more exchange visits.
