The Personnel Wing hosted the Celebratory Reception of 2023 World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) at the Police Officers’ Club on October 6. Commissioner Siu Chak-yee, Senior Directorate Group members and sponsors attended the reception to congratulate the triumphant return of the Force delegation from the WPFG held in Canada.


The reception commenced with the march-in of WPFG athlete representatives led by Chairman of Police Sports Council (PSC) Chan Sze-tat. A good news was announced at the ceremony. Station Sergeant Lam Wah-ping, who won six gold medals in seven shooting events, was awarded the seventh gold medal after arbitration. As a result, the Force delegation had won a total of 239 medals, including 90 gold, 80 silver and 69 bronze. The total number of medals and gold medals received this year were the highest ever in the history of the Force.


In addition to praising highly the Force athletes for their outstanding performance, the Commissioner expressed sincere gratitude to the sponsors for their support, as well as the commitment by PSC and the Organising Committee of WPFG, which allowed all athletes to join the games successfully.


The reception also featured an athlete interview session and behind-the-scenes footage viewing, which displayed the athletes’ efforts and co-ordination amongst Sports Clubs, coaches and leaders when preparing for WPFG, for recalling the wonderful moments during the games.
