Tseung Kwan O District (TKODIST), in conjunction with District Fight Crime Committee (Sai Kung District) (DFCC), Sai Kung District Council, Hang Hau Rural Committee, Sai Kung District Office, Sai Kung Division (SKDIV) and Marine East Division, organised a large-scale anti-deception publicity and educational campaign in TKODIST and SKDIV between September 10 and 24 to enhance the public’s anti-deception awareness.
The anti-deception fortnight campaign consisted of three parts. Firstly, the Anti-deception Pledging Ceremony and Parade was held at the Hong Kong Velodrome Park on September 10. Officiating guests included Director of Operations Chan Tung and Hong Kong Wushu athlete Ms Mok Uen-ying. More than 600 participants from 60 organisations and groups were mobilised to conduct publicity and education activities. In the second part, TKODIST, in collaboration with DFCC and other district organisations, conducted publicity activities and held seminars for two consecutive weeks at places of high pedestrian flow in the districts, including housing estates, shopping malls and MTR stations, to enhance public awareness of deception prevention. Lastly, TKODIST-wide Anti-scam Run was held on September 24 to mark the finale of the campaign. Over 250 participants went jogging at five locations in the districts to make anti-deception appeals to the public on the way, thereby further engaging community efforts in preventing scams.
