The Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2022 of Senior Police Call (SPC) was held at the Police Officers’ Club on September 15. Regional Commander of Hong Kong Island cum Chairperson of the SPC Central Advisory Board Kwok Ka-chuen chaired the AGM. In his speech, he thanked the attendees for their continuous support. He also stated that SPC would keep dovetailing with the government’s policy on the elderly and encourage senior citizens to take active part in social affairs and continue giving full play to their strengths in society, as well as enhancing their awareness of crime prevention, anti-deception and road safety.
The participants reviewed the activities organised by SPC in the past year and discussed its future development direction through their active exchange of ideas. Appreciation trophies were presented to 44 awardees of the Best SPC Captains and Most Active SPC Members in recognition of their contribution and support to SPC.
Commissioner Siu Chak-yee, Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Chow Yat-ming and Director of Operations Chan Tung attended the luncheon upon invitation. Apart from expressing his gratitude to various sectors of the community for their support, the Commissioner showed his concern about elderly-related deception. The Force would prevent and combat deception continuously and promote anti-deception messages through inter-departmental and inter-professional co-operation to enhance the awareness of anti-deception and crime prevention among the elderly.
Appreciation trophies were also presented to the strategic partners of SPC for their support to SPC. SPC members of Kwai Tsing District and Sha Tin District were arranged to give erhu and ukulele performances respectively. Contestant of Midlife, Sing & Shine! Mr Ng Tai-keung was invited to sing as a guest performer. He was subsequently presented the certificate of appointment by the Commissioner as the SPC Ambassador 2024 to help promote the work of SPC in the future.
