Marine (MAR) collaborated with the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE) to organise a summer programme named “Take the Helm” for enhancing the students’ problem solving skills, leadership and law-abiding awareness through marine policing and leadership training. 16 students were selected to attend a three-day summer training course between August 15 and 17. The course contents included national security, criminal and maritime law, marine policing challenges, basic mechanics, wheelhouse organisation and leadership training. The students had first-hand experience on the police launch simulator and performing maritime duties on police launches. Having committed themselves wholeheartedly to the course, the students passed the assessments successfully.
