Commissioner Siu Chak-yee inspected the passing-out parade as the Reviewing Officer of 12 inspectors (auxiliary) and 126 recruit auxiliary police constables at the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force (HKAPF) Headquarters on August 19. They came from different walks of life, including a law firm partner and representatives of the Hong Kong martial arts and volleyball teams. Among them, 79 joined the HKAPF through the Auxiliary Undergraduate Scheme (AUS). Members of the District Fight Crime Committee, local universities presidents, members of Junior Police Call and Senior Police Call Central Advisory Boards, as well as the president and representatives of the Khalsa Diwan Sikh Temple in Wan Chai, also attended the passing-out parade.
In his speech, the Commissioner says that the auxiliary members are “the best partners” of regular frontline officers. Nearly 730 auxiliary members work side by side with regular officers every day to serve the community. They share the common inspiration of maintaining public order, protecting citizens and safeguarding Hong Kong. This parade sees the passing out of 79 AUS members, the number of which is a recent high. Moreover, the number of participants in the Police Mentorship Programme and the local universities students participating in summer internships have also attained record highs this year, reflecting evident progress in the Force’s efforts to connect with youths.
AUS members meet with CP
To deepen his understanding of the youth, the Commissioner visited HKAPF Headquarters on August 11 to communicate with 79 AUS members who were under training. They discussed how to enhance the Force’s recruitment for university students and how to deepen the public’s understanding of the Force. The Commissioner also shared his policing career and offered insights on being an outstanding leader. The trainees actively interacted with each other.
