The 16th Military Summer Camp for Hong Kong Youth was held at San Wai Barracks in Fanling between July 21 and 30. Over 300 youths from local secondary schools joined the camp to receive four or ten days of discipline training, which included military-related experience and thematic talks. The closing ceremony was held on July 30, with Deputy Commissioner (National Security) (DCP NS) Kan Kai-yan attending as an officiating guest.

As an initiative of the Force’s commitment to youth engagement, the Personnel Wing successfully recruited 19 police officers as volunteer facilitators to give guidance to the students. Having undergone the training together, the facilitators and students established close friendship. DCP NS thanked the facilitators for taking part in this meaningful event in their spare time, and appreciated their contribution to promoting the Force’s professional and positive image.

The camp was jointly organised by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, the Education Bureau and the Concerted Efforts Resource Centre. It aimed to allow the trainees to experience the life of the garrison and acquire knowledge about national military and defense for laying a solid foundation for the participants to contribute to the country and Hong Kong.
