On July 12, the Force received a report claiming that a 31-year-old female with schizophrenia had gone missing in Pak Mong Village, Lantau North Division (LTNDIV). Upon taking over the case, officers of Regional Missing Persons Unit of New Territories North (RMPU NTN) immediately reviewed a large volume of CCTV footage and started a joint search and rescue operation with LTNDIV.
A total of 104 officers were deployed, including members from New Territories South’s Police Tactical Unit and Small Unmanned Aircraft Cadre of Emergency Unit, Marine West Division, Government Flying Service, Fire Services Department and Civil Aid Service. With joint efforts of the parties concerned, the missing woman was eventually located at the seashore of Tai Ho Wan the next day. She was extremely weak, dehydrated, and had minor abrasion on her limbs. After hospital treatment, the woman recovered without major problems.
The father of the missing woman was very grateful to the Force for the swift action. He especially presented pennants and thank-you cards to the officers of Operations of NTN, RMPU NTN and LTNDIV to express his gratitude.
