To enhance officers’ knowledge about the gaming industry in Macao and its related crimes, the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) held a seminar at the Police Headquarters on July 10. The Head of Gaming-related Crimes Division of Macao Judiciary Police (MJP) Mr Tang Kam-va was invited to lead a delegation to Hong Kong to participate in the seminar with officers from Crime Bureaux, frontline detectives and forensic accountants to share the latest development in the gaming industry in Macao. With the implementation of the new legislation in Macao, the relevant authorities have strengthened regulations and measures in different aspects especially targeting junket operator, illegal money lending in casinos, loansharking related illegal debt collection activities, and money laundering, etc.
Officers from the Financial Intelligence and Investigation Bureau and OCTB also shared with more than 300 frontline detectives on the investigation of money laundering cases related to the Macao gaming industry and referral mechanism with MJP to strengthen frontline officers’ capability and confidence in handling related cases.
