Police Constable of Platoon 4, Emergency Unit of New Territories North Wong Ho-yin , who was walking past Tin Shui Shopping Centre on his way to work on June 4 morning, spotted a 72-year-old elderly male lying unconsciously on the ground. Beside him was a frantic elderly lady, the elderly man’s wife. Wong immediately approached the old man and found that he had bare breath. Without any delay, Wong rendered him CPR until the paramedics arrived. Because of Wong’s timely resuscitation, the old man regained pulse while being conveyed to hospital.
Subsequently, the elderly couple’s son wrote an appreciation letter to express his gratitude to Wong’s professionalism. The dedication and professionalism of Wong deserves commendation as his decisive and prompt action has saved a life. No matter whether being on duty or off duty, officers can surely project the Force’s positive image and boost public confidence in the Force as long as they act with dedication and professionalism.
