Mong Kok District (MKDIST) held a workshop on June 14 for potential applicants applying to join the Force, attracting 80 overseas students, Mainland students in Hong Kong and undergraduates of local universities. District Commander of MKDIST Ng Chi-chung, together with two inspectors and a previous physical training instructor of the Police College, briefed on the competence and quality required for a police officer, performance of the candidates in the past and the selection criteria, as well as teaching the participants how to equip themselves. After the workshop, 80 per cent of the participants immediately joined Project TORCH as new members and even enrolled for the upcoming interview workshops and physical training classes.

MKDIST has been running Project TORCH since 2017 to provide various types of training for bolstering the confidence of those who aspire to join the Force. Moreover, MKDIST liaises with Mainland students in Hong Kong proactively, especially by opening a new account on the social media platform Xiaohongshu for keeping contact with them.
