To enhance frontline officers’ work efficiency and professional capabilities, Wong Tai Sin District (WTSDIST) has launched Project e-DNA and Project Cluehunter. District Commander of WTSDIST Yeung Chun-po officiated at the launching ceremony on June 27 and appointed 31 officers of both uniform and crime officers as ambassadors for the two projects.

Project e-DNA aims at facilitating the implementation of the Force’s digital policing strategy by three means, namely creating the digital mindset, promoting strategic partnership and making good use of digital tools. Taking the establishment of a technology team with a high level of competence as the focus, WTSDIST has appointed 25 officers who have extensive knowledge of and avid interest in the internet and the Force’s information technology systems as ambassadors of the Project. In collaboration with the District Technology Crime Squad, the ambassadors strive to promote the use of the Force’s electronic tools among the officers and collect feedback from users. Meanwhile, the ambassadors will make suggestions to the District on utilising technologies to enhance work efficiency and combat technology crimes.

Project Cluehunter aims to enhance the efficiency of CCTV footage analysis. A dedicated team has been formed to track and analyse CCTV footage. Six officers have been temporarily appointed to take up the assignment as a secondary duty. They will be deployed to District Intelligence Section to assist in tracking and analysing CCTV footage for cases whenever necessary. It is hoped that manpower can be deployed more flexibly to enhance investigation efficiency.
