Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Yuen Yuk-kin (DCP OPS), as Reviewing Officer, inspected 32 probationary inspectors and 110 recruit police constables at the passing-out parade held at Hong Kong Police College (HKPC) on June 24. The Police Band Cadet also joined the Police Band for the first time to stage music and marching performance at the passing-out parade.
It is mentioned in DCP OPS’s speech that his 37-year police career will end in August. He sincerely thanks the Force for its cultivation and trust in him over the years. He is very proud of being able to protect Hong Kong together with his colleagues in the turbulent days with the firmest beliefs.
DCP OPS describes the police career as a marathon. To run well, one has to work hard to complete the most rigorous training, and to follow professional tactics before they have the ability and endurance to complete the decades-long race. He also points out that a policing career, like a long-distance running, will be full of challenges. As long as the graduates can keep their faith, they will be able to overcome all difficulties and move forward.
DCP OPS stresses that the Force must stay alert to threats and dangers in times of peace to facilitate the steadfast and successful implementation of “one country, two systems” as Hong Kong is advancing from stability to prosperity. He encourages the graduates to uphold their faith in being a police officer, inherit the spirit of the Force and keep protecting the country and Hong Kong.
