Marine (MAR) held the Closing Ceremony of the 180th Anniversary of the Establishment of Hong Kong Marine Police cum Cheung Chau Police Station Open Day on June 17. Community partners, youth groups and members of the public were invited to join the event that attracted about 550 attendees. Regional Commander (RC) of MAR David Jordon and Deputy RC of MAR Ip Che-man, together with other guests, officiated at the ceremony themed “Inheritance and Sharing with the Community”.
Students on Cheung Chau respectively performed lion dance, choir singing and band show at the ceremony. Afterwards, the guests were arranged to visit Cheung Chau Police Station, a Grade II Historic Building. The event featured various exhibitions and stall games, including the historic corridor of Marine Police, Cheung Chau history exhibition area, model of Cheung Chau Police Station in 1913, 3D Marine Police vessel photo booth and various mini-police uniform and vehicles for photo taking, AR and VR experience, handicraft activities and stall games featuring maritime rope work and rescue. Marine Police vessels and equipment of Small Boat Division and MAR Unmanned Aircraft Systems Team were also displayed. Participants could even interact with the Police Dog Unit. The Force’s anti-scam mascot “The Little Grape” also came to promote anti-deception messages. The event not only allowed citizens to understand Marine Police’s 180 years of heritage and professionalism, but also raised their awareness of sea-safety and crime prevention.
