With the immediate effects of the National Security Law (NSL) after its implementation, Hong Kong has transited from chaos to order and is ushering in a new stage of advancing from stability to prosperity. Throughout this process, the Force plays an important and indispensable role. With much courage and determination, Force members at all levels have been standing united to stop violence, curb disorder, and combat activities that endanger national security.
This year marks the third anniversary of the promulgation and implementation of the NSL and the establishment of the National Security Department of the Hong Kong Police Force (NSD). To commend and recognise all Force members for their hard work and initial achievements in safeguarding national security, NSD has specially published a commemorative booklet entitled Defending Our Home, which consists of four chapters featuring valuable photographs and important messages to witness the important milestones achieved by the Force in safeguarding national security.
The commemorative booklet is available in both printed and electronic versions for officers to review together the significant moments and achievements of the Force in safeguarding national security.
Chapter I "Taking up challenging mission at critical juncture"
Recalls Hong Kong’s painful experience of being ravaged by the black-clad violence, the subsequent implementation of the NSL under which the chaotic situation in Hong Kong was reversed, and the glorious mission shouldered by the Force to safeguard national security in accordance with the law.
Chapter II "Working with one heart to turn chaos into order"
Describes the rigorous law enforcement actions taken by Force officers with shared mission and perseverance against major syndicates and organisations that endanger national security. Some of the national security cases have become “ironclad cases” after court trials. In addition, the Force has been launching a series of publicity and educational work on national security to enhance the awareness of safeguarding national security among police officers and members of the public.
Chapter III "Staying vigilant to undercurrents all around"
Emphasises that various potential national security threats and risks are still facing Hong Kong. All Force members should stay vigilant to crises and never let their guard down.
Chapter IV "A long and responsibility-laden road to security and prosperity"
Records important remarks on safeguarding national security made by President Xi Jinping and Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council Mr Xia Baolong, views of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government officials and legal professionals on the implementation of the NSL, and exclusive interviews with Deputy Commissioner (National Security) Kan Kai-yan and Director of National Security Kong Hok-lai. Through these inspiring messages, NSD hopes to encourage Force members to remain steadfast in their duties and fulfil the mission of safeguarding national security resolutely and faithfully.
