The Major Incidents Bureau (MIB) ran the 17th Incident Command Course between May 8 and 16 to strengthen officers’ command and control capabilities in dealing with terrorist attacks, major incidents and public disorders. The course participants comprised 24 officers whose ranks ranged from superintendent to chief superintendent, together with six members of the Counter Terrorism Emergency Coordination Team from other government departments. After its curriculum being revamped by Operations Wing, the practicality and relevance of the course were enhanced. In addition to guest lectures, a variety of thematic table-top exercises, including a simulated large-scale exercise using the Scenario-based Interactive Multiplayer Simulation at the Police College, had been arranged for participants with a view to fostering their experience and overall command proficiency.
Officiating at the course opening, Director of Operations Chan Joon-sun highlighted that the course provided an effective platform for officers to enhance their command ability and consolidate their collaboration. He emphasised that it could further develop officers’ professional knowledge and confidence in handling large-scale operations. At the end of the course, Assistant Commissioner (Operations) Lui Kam-ho congratulated and presented certificates to the participants in recognition of their active participation.
