Traffic of Kowloon West (T KW) has initiated a new operation codenamed KNIFEBATCH since April to form a designated team to combat serious illegal parking. Different from traditional ticketing enforcement, KNIFEBATCH primarily targets illegal parking causing serious obstruction and enforces the law with tow trucks to increase the drivers’ cost in illegal parking.

During the operation, the officers and a number of tow trucks patrol at the black spots of illegal parking within the Region and take swift and decisive action to immediately tow away vehicles causing serious obstruction. It saves the time for frontline officers to wait for tow trucks to arrive at the scene. The operation also improves the efficiency of enforcement. The operation focuses on serious violations such as double-parking, parking at bus stops, pedestrian crossings, road turns and emergency vehicle entrances.

Through the operation, T KW hopes to change the bad driving habits of drivers and reduce the burden of parking violations on the road network.
