Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) and Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) held TECH FAIR 2023 jointly on March 11. The Head Mentor of PMP cum Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) (ACP P) Chan Man-tak and Acting Chief Superintendent of CSTCB Lam Cheuk-ho led PMP mentors at CSTCB to exchange views with over 40 PMP mentees at the Cyber Range.

As pointed out in the opening speech of ACP P, the Force faces major challenges on human resources at present. In response, a proactive approach with multi-pronged recruitment strategies has been adopted. It is indeed encouraging that PMP sees a record high number of recruited mentees this year. Lam Cheuk-ho, on the other hand, patiently introduced to the mentees the trend and challenges of future technology development.

The mentors explained blockchain applications, the trends of technology crimes, professional knowledge in identifying and detecting technology crimes, as well as the Force’s professional capabilities in seizing electronic devices, forensic testing and collecting digital evidence. The mentors also demonstrated how scammers snatched the data of a victim’s phone with Trojan horse malware for extortion. The event has helped the mentees have a better understanding of the diversified policing work and further solidified their determination to join the Force for contributing to maintaining law and order in Hong Kong.
